About

This section concludes the project paper by reviewing the main project findings against what was set during the early stages of inception. It will also be used to find out recommendations future work that may have been identified over the course of the project.

Overview

The FAHView project expanded the functionality of the Folding@home client making the project easier to use and therefore more accessible to the masses.

Aim and Objectives

The project set out to overcome the aim specified at the beginning of this report, I believe that the project has surpassed its objectives as it has achieved what it was set out to do, there are however tasks that still need to be completed; these will be talked about in the Future work section below.

Significance

The work produced as part of this project is significant as it has addressed the problems with the past and current Folding@home clients and expanded on it's functionality to provide the user of the client more information to what they are contributing to.

Future Work

As the third iteration of the project could not be completed within the time frame of the project, it will be assigned to the future work section (Adding support for the new V7 F@H clients) the V7 Client API is still in the Beta phases at the writing of the report therefore any work derived from using the API is likely to change.

The new API has the potential to control clients such as change options, add and remove slots etc.; therefore it has the ability to administer Folding@home clients from over networks. This produces the potential to include the ability to control these clients from within the FAHView client monitoring application.

Summary

Overall I believe the project has that was tackled has been an overall success. The program produced however is still to be completed and will more than likely be continued to be worked upon for a number of years to come to encompass all the functionality to become a complete replacement for the main Folding@home user interface.
